It was a REALLY DIFFERENT seminar… Walking into the ballroom of Hotel Novotel Mangga Dua for James Gwee’s Power Seminar Series last March 23 was like going to Japan. The decoration was fully Japanese, the backdrop was a Japanese house, there were Japanese lightings, cherry pink & apple blossoms flower everywhere… Even the Academia staff were all dressed in Japanese clothings… James Gwee was also dressed like a Japanese!

250 people attended the seminar… We learnt to understand the true meaning of Win-Win by dividing an orange between 2 twin children.. Then we learnt the basics of negotiation by understanding the 5 philosophies of judo… These very practical & relevant lessons were demonstrated to us by Senior judo instructor Bpk Iwi Senjaja. He is 68 years old, but looks 50 years old. He is Indonesia’s Most Senior Motivator.

Nobody are perfect and neither one can be, because no matter how smart we are, we still make mistakes. But we make mistakes so that we can still improve from them. Well, the real fact is that experience counts a lot, because it is experience by which we will learn to deal with similar kind of situations later. Different kind of things happen in everybody’s life, but everybody doesn’t face the same kind of situations, and that mean everybody is not as smart as the other one. And that is why some people handle their posts effectively and more efficiently as compared to others. And not everybody can learn the same lesion from the same kind of circumstances. So keeping this in mind, there are several firms that provide learning solutions with the help of videos.

These videos cover various topics like the business negotiation skills, how to calm the irate customers, dealing with stress, etc. and every video has its own purpose and teaches a lesion. After viewing these videos, people will practically feel the importance of that lesion, because now they have seen a practical video over this, so it will make drastic changes in the person who have watched this video. Besides this, there are several philosophies also that these videos teach, and the most common philosophy being the Fish philosophy. These philosophies also have some lesions and teach a great deal on how things should work in order to carry the smoothness in the work. Other than this, these firms also have the training evaluation tools in order to confirm that the lesion has been taught successfully.

If Quebec were to finally separate from Canada…?

would the Maritime provinces and Newfoundland be forced to join the United States for financial reasons?

My teacher told me that they were preparing negotiations regarding this before the 1995 referendum (which of course failed). I live in the Maritimes and I’d be very interested to hear more information about this.

With the economic downturn, it’s harder than ever to find another job if you unfortunately get laid off from your pharmaceutical job. To that end I have laid out 7 things you should be doing diligently, every week until the end of the year. If you do this I assure you that you will not be caught with your pants down if the most unfortunate happens.

1. NETWORK – And I do not mean network with other pharmaceutical reps or managers necessarily. I mean network with reps or managers in the industry you want to get into. For example biotech, medical devices or another industry altogether. The time to get your ducks in a row is NOW. As a former District Manager, Brand Manager, and Director and even in my current role at corporate I have reviewed and interviewed hundreds and hundreds of people. The only people I interviewed were the ones who were sent to me by an internal person. Not from a Monster or The Ladders posting or one of the many online career websites.

Everyone remembers the infamous line Hatton said during his interview after beating Castillo. (And if you don’t know, then you probably aren’t a boxing fan but a particular boxer’s nuthugger.) But either way the fight was made immediately after wards, resulting in a 10 round clinic from Floyd to Hatton.

Somebody tell Pacquiao to drop the Filipino choir boy act for just a little while. It’s time to be more vocal for a change. He needs to follow the example set by his loving Pactards. Maybe if Manny had tried to goad Floyd a little, maybe Floyd would have been more inclined to make the fight happen effective immediately. Maybe Floyd would have been more lenient towards the negotiations just to get in the ring.
