How to Be a Better Negotiator
Article by Tom Meyer
Being an effective negotiator takes quite a bit of skill, and confidence. Negotiating is just about getting things to go your way; its about getting your way and making the person you are negotiating with happy to give it to you!
There’s a negotiator in all of us and whether we realize it or not, we negotiate every day. Teenagers negotiate with their parents to borrow the car on Friday nights; parents negotiate with their kids to clean their room. Employees and employers both negotiate on every level daily. Someone, somewhere, at this very moment is working hard to convince someone else of something.
CONFLICT RESOLUTION – Negotiation – the Better Way
Article by Martin Rosenbaum, B.Com., B.C.L., LL.B
Most disputes headed to litigation, or already in litigation, could be resolved much earlier and at less cost if the negotiation and conflict management were approached in a disciplined manner. Many business negotiations could also proceed much more efficiently and effectively if the negotiations were approached in a systematic way. In both situations relationships that would otherwise be destroyed or significantly damaged could be salvaged, maintained or even improved.
As a commercial lawyer with approximately 20 years of experience, I have found that once a dispute arises, most clients and their legal advisors will take a discrete position and become intent on forcing their position onto the other side. They then seek, or threaten to seek, the assistance of the power of the State, namely, a Court or other tribunal, to make some decision supportive of their position. However, given the uncertainty and expense of litigation, often both parties are not satisfied with the results. Furthermore, an impending or threatened appeal further exacerbates the difficulties.

Let me ask you this… What makes a successful business owner?
Well for me, a successful business owner is someone that earns well into six figures or more each year from their business, working around 3 to 4 days (or less) per week.
I call this ‘successful’ because if they can make a few hundred thousand a year from their business, and only work a few days per week they have to have a lot of great things in place…
I’ve never been to a gun show. Are the Prices better? how much? how much can you haggle? haggling tips?
Look for home defense (hand gun) also interested in rifles, and pump action shotguns. I’m comfortable with guns, but I’ve never bought one. I don’t want to be had. I want to get the best deal. This is a business question, not a shooting question. I want to know the etiquite and expected negotiations with gun dealers.
