So since I can’t choose between the USMC and special forces, I’ve looked into the Marine Corps SOCOM unit, MARSOC. However, the program is so new that I can’t really find any or a lot of information about it regarding how selection works, what training is like, or even what kinds of missi ons they do… their website does not say anything conclusive, just that they sometimes run aggressive missions and sometimes facilitate foreign negotiations or something like that. So how does selection and recruiting work? How soon after basic can a Marine opt for MARSOC training? How long and intense is MARSOC training (and please include anything you know about what kinds of training they do)? What does MARSOC do, are they like Green Berets where they go behind enemy lines to attack enemies or do they work like Navy SEALs or like AF Pararescue?
